For our tours we use very stable touring sea kayaks which are the “sit-in” cockpit type not “sit-on” kayaks. We also have a number of single sea kayaks which are available for hire by more experienced sea kayakers.
No previous experience is necessary. We will provide you with all the instruction needed. All our tours are suited to beginners.
You only need to be of average strength and fitness level. All our tours are suited to beginners, however, we do get affected by wind and tide and some days can be easier than others. Please contact us if you are unsure about the weather or your abilities or fitness level.
Kayak hiring is restricted to the kayak hiring area, there are restrictions as to where you can paddle. On our guided tours we have more scope as to where we go on the day. We can also point out local bird, marine and wildlife as well as provide an informative outline of the Clarence River area.
Our tours operate within the mouth of the Clarence River Estuary.
Yes, you will get a little bit wet. There will always be a little bit of splash and drips from your paddle. Your feet will get wet getting in and out of the kayak so wear footwear that can handle this. We can provide you with a dry-bag to keep your personal valuables in.
Not necessarily, If we get a little shower or two, we will still go ahead. Thunderstorms and lightning or strong winds will have the tour cancelled. If it looks like heavy rain the whole time we will usually cancel too.
We cannot guarantee dolphin sightings as they are wild dolphins. However, we do regularly encounter dolphins on our tours and try our best to spot them
We are located in Yamba on the Clarence River next to the Hickey Island public boat ramp carpark. There is plenty of parking.
Yes, you will get a 100% refund if the tour is cancelled.
